With a small smile, Ash rejoined Cate and Haymich.
"It's a wonder he sticks with ya," Haymich commented when she returned.

"It really is," Cate mused. "He seems to, well, hate you a little bit."

"Anyone would, with that kinda reaction to a simple joke," Haymich pointed out, resuming his sweeping while humming nothing.
Ash laughed at Cate, however. "A little bit? I'm fairly certain he despises us!"

Cate laughed at what Haymich said. "On that topic-- what's one of your worst habits?" She looked expectantly at Ash.

Ash paused halfway through reaching to remove some of the stuff Crane had brought in. "Uh.. I pick at my skin when I'm stressed?"

Haymich leaned on his broom so he could count on his fingers. "Well, one: I drink too much. Two: kinda homeless. Three: kinda been dead for a while, so this new Gotham doesn't quite match up with what I got in my head." He knocked at the side of his head for emphasis. "But, all things considered, alcohol can't kill a dead guy!"

Cate tilted her head. "I'm assuming the dead thing is a metaphor or something, because you look pretty alive to me."

Cate stared at him, trying to imagine being a kidnapped medical test subject.

Haymich rubbed at his neck as she kept staring at him. "Hey, hey, enough about me and my problems, here. It's all over with anyway."
"You are full of surprises," Ash pointed out, looking interested. "Very lucky for us that Aleenya didn't kill you."
