"It's probably going to be a while.." Ash sighed unhappily. "Here," she handed Madeline her car keys. "There's a nice, but secluded park about three miles west, on the corner of Hugh and Grundel. You can drive there, and wait until she gets better if I can borrow your car to meet you there later."

"Sounds good." Madeline nodded and started the car.

(And gave Ash her car keys, describing the car =P )
Ash headed off after leaving her toxin in the car, and grabbing her regular clothes and badge. She then took out her cell phone and called Collins. He picked up, and before he could say anything, she began to speak in her cop voice. "Collins, thank god. I'm right by Arkham, and a whole bunch of doctors just came out, scared out of their minds. They're saying someone's broken in. What's going on?" "We know," Collins answered quickly. "They say it was Moss, Sheridan and Crane, again. Don't worry, we're on our way." "Okay, good," Ash responded, hanging up the phone before Collins could tell her not to do anything stupid. She went back into the Asylum, and back into the room where Crane was screaming on the floor. She took out her official gun and stood over him, keeping her aim on him. She couldn't help but laugh for a minute. He just couldn't figure out how to make things turn out well. Her favorite part was when he had enough in him to form his screams into the word "No." His screams, his sobs.. Finally, she was able to stop playing the nice guy around him. She had been waiting for this, to have him at her feet, under her control, under her wrath. It was just as beautiful as she had imagined. Shortly, once Ash had composed, she heard the few other cops from her squad approaching. "Quick!" she shouted. "In here!" As if they couldn't tell from the screams. Collins arrived first and stared at the man on the ground. "What happened to him?" he asked, aghast, and not enjoying the sound of the screaming. Ash let herself grimace. "It looks like he was abandoned," she responded. "He was like this when I found him." "God help us.." Collins muttered. "What do we do?" Ash asked, almost looking scared. Collins put his gun away. "You and I will carry him to the cars," he said. "There's no point in calling the paramedics. They can't do anything against this. The others can cover us." Ash nodded, looking nervous, and they worked to pick up Crane, who was struggling quite viciously. They got him out to the cars and shoved him inside one. Collins began to get in the driver's seat when Ash said, "Can I go with you? I don't want to force you to be alone with him." Collins looked visibly relieved. "Of course." Ash got in the passenger's side, and they drove to the police department.

Madeline watched Aleenya through the mirrors as the younger woman screamed in fear. Too many years had passed for this to be brought up now, but here it was. The mess of a little girl who had sat in a cell in Arkham, nineteen years old -- she'd hardly changed at all. That wasn't supposed to happen. It doesn't help to hold a grudge. That was one thing she hadn't had time to teach. The shouts turned into whimpers and then finally subsided into nothingness. Finally, Aleenya mumbled, "Madeline? Is... that you?" "Yes," Madeline sighed. It was too late for this. She should be lying in bed with her husband, sleeping the day away. "I'm sorry," Aleenya's voice was fragile. "For what?" "For... for who I am. I didn't change like you told me to." "Oh, Aleenya," Madeline smiled softly. Her eyes flicked down onto her hands. "I didn't expect you to. Are you feeling alright?" "Yeah," Aleenya said. "Just a little... yeah." "Then let's go get some ice cream." Madeline started up the car again. As they drove over the crisp, icy streets, a fresh snow began to fall. Aleenya, still laying across the backseat of the car, stared at the fluffy white flakes of snow. They stopped at a gas station and Madeline went inside. Aleenya marveled at her trust, when Aleenya could easily run away; but then, why would she? Madeline was nothing to fear. Madeline returned to the car with a gallon of vanilla ice cream and two plastic spoons. Aleenya sat up so they could sit next to each other. The ice cream was soft and easy to bite into with the flimsy spoons. After a few bites, Madeline looked up at her. "You hold a lot of resentment, don't you?" "Yeah, I do." Aleenya bit her lip. "I've been told it's pathetic. Ash thinks so, or at least I think she does. She'd never say it out loud, but..." She looked pleadingly at the woman, as if all it took was a forgiving human to change the past. "I can't ever go back. I won't have a normal life, so all I do is kill and kill, but I've realized that that doesn't really help." "No," Madeline said, "it doesn't. And I'm not going to pretend this is only about you. That man, and his children, Aleenya. Why?" "He saved my life," Aleenya whispered. "I didn't want him to save my life." "So you punish him?" Madeline shook her head. "I stopped helping you because of my own ambition, and because of that you are still a mess. I regret what I did, but you don't see me killing anyone, do you? I'm a civil person in a civil world, and you're a part of that too. She was clearly upset. Somehow, this leveled Aleenya. "I was thinking about what it might mean to not kill anyone. But I can't face... my pride, I guess. I'd look stupid to change my mind after all these years." Madeline raised her eyebrows. "You were brave once. I saw it. And now you would murder because of how you might look?" "That isn't what I-" "It is exactly what you meant." Aleenya sighed and pressed her face to the window's cool glass, and Madeline's voice softened. "You wouldn't have to tell anyone." "I guess not. Ash, maybe." "She seems nice." "She is." Aleenya smiled. "I suggest that you trust her. Whatever else she does, she didn't hurt anyone tonight." Aleenya nodded. Her memories flicked back o the conversation with her father. And then she'd gotten herself gassed... she might have to kill Crane. Only she wouldn't. Not if she stuck to her own secret little rule. She hugged Madeline."Thanks. For everything," she said. Madeline hugged her back. "It's my pleasure," she said. "Thank you for helping me back there." She stood up. "I'll drive you the park, Ash is going to meet us there with my car, and you can take yourself home from there, if you have one." "I do." "Then take the ice cream with you." Madeline walked over to the driver's seat. She got in and pilled the car out of the lot. "And one more thing. Don't go driving off any more bridges." She had been paying attention, hadn't she? "I won't."

Ash drove back with Collins, who dropped her off where she had asked. For safety's sake, Ash stuck around the Perkins for a cup of coffee and some pie before heading off to pick up Madeline's car. She found it and drove to the park. She saw her own car, Aleenya and Madeline with it, and stopped right by them.

Aleenya smiled at Ash when she saw her.
Ash smiled back and tossed Madeline her keys back. "Thanks."
"No problem," Madeline said. She headed back to her car unless she was already in it because I forgot. Before she shut the door she called, "Have a nice night!" and then drove away.
Ash turned back to Aleenya. "How're you feeling?" she asked, concerned, considering how she herself would feel after being gassed again.
"Oh, fine," Aleenya said a little absently, lost in her thoughts. "Where were you?"
"Dealing with Crane," Ash said, running a hand over her hair again."And then I went to Perkins."
"To Perkins?" Aleenya asked. "Why?"
"I didn't know how much time you needed," Ash admitted. "And I told Collins that I left a friend there."
"Oh," Aleenya answered. "Yeah, it was nice getting to talk to her again... Crane really gassed me again?"
"Yes," Ash answered, sounding annoyed by the thought.
"I will kill-" Aleenya interrupted herself mid-sentence then said, "I will maim him. Where is he?"
"Erm.." Ash tried to hold back a grin and bounced on her toes a little. "He may be screaming on the floor of the police department's holding cells."
Slowly Aleenya raised her eyebrows. "You did not," she said, a grin crawling up her face. "No way."
Ash grinned fully. "Yeah!" she chirped.
Aleenya let out a laugh. "You know, this hasn't been such a bad nightt after all!" she said cheerily.
"Nope! And now he won't be moping around the house either!" Ash giggled. "His face when we see him in the department will be hilarious."
"He won't give us away, will he?" Aleenya asked, amused.
"He'll regret it if he does," Ash said, shrugging happily. "Let's go home.
"Right. You drive, Crane gassed me."
Ash nodded, and they headed off!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(So, currently we are much later, doing a thing past the point of where we actually are. This is after Ash's lost her home, and is all blah. Crane is trying to pick up the pieces and needs help to get more toxin stuff, but keeps fighting with Aleenya, who is the only person he can get help from right now. And she is there to maybe find information on Scarlett stuff so that Ash is less hopeless. I believe that's it. I also don't know if we're starting before they get there? But hey, we'll do that. Here we go.)
Crane was muttering to himself a lot lately. He figured that speaking with himself was a lot more reasonable than speaking to either of the people he had for company during this chaos. Sheridan had stopped being even remotely helpful after her base of operations was taken, and Moss was fawning over Sheridan, so was of very little use as well.
However, in this case, he needed assistance, and knew that it would not come from Sheridan. If anyone was going to get them out of this mess alive, it wasn't her. Crane wanted very much to stay alive, even if it meant trying to work with Moss.
That was why he found himself calling her away from Sheridan. "Moss," he called harshly, "we need to talk."
(Where are they right now?)
"Go fragdaggle yourself," Aleenya called back. "I'm busy."
"We can try and get in similar to last time," Crane commented. "My supply is hidden in the forgotten areas of the basement."
Aleenya nodded slowly, hand on the gun in her pocket. "Lead the way."
And so he did! He magically had a key left over because he's a dirty little thief, that was able to get them inside one of the old, broken looking side/back entrance doors. After several minutes of dusty, cobwebby travelling, they had gotten well inside the building, to the cleaner, more modern looking areas.
"That was easy," Aleenya murmured very, very softly.
