"Some of them I wouldn't mind gone," Ash pointed out, with a slight laugh, as they slowly made their way outside. To where Ash stole a police car because she figured she deserved one at this point.

And so they made their way home.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later, as things are being reported and such.
Gordon, Arlanda, and Collins all return to the Department, unable to locate Scarlett. There was no time to be disheartened, however, as Sheridan and Moss had left quite a mess behind for them to deal with. The first order of business was to call the paramedics, then to get whatever information was possible from the recruits left alive. Gordon hoped that it would be useful, but mostly just hoped he could find some way to have to avoid the reporters and press quicky encroaching on the scene. There weren't enough of the force anymore to hold them back. That would be the next step, he supposed. To rebuild properly.
He would have to go talk to the press, however. To take his place as Commissioner once again, but it was a miserable process.
Luckily, however, while they were dealing with the scene, and Gordon was steeling himself, a different ruckus entirely arose from the sidelines, where the reporters stood fearlessly.
Sam was standing in front of the department, reporting on the incident. "To provide an update for any viewers who have recently joined us, Officer Jaide's whereabouts remain unknown--"
At that instant, a youngish dark-haired man ran through the police barriers, right onto Sam's live broadcast. "Sam! Sam!" he yelled. "Do you know where Lio is? Do you know if he's alive? He was here, he was at work--"
Sam patted him gently on the shoulder and gestured to the cameras. "He's fine," they said, then added a little pointedly, "over there."
The man, Gabriel, glanced at the cameras. An expression of profound embarrassment appeared on his face, and he ran off screen to find Collins.
Collins turned at the sound of his name in the ruckus, and distinctly ended up blushing when he heard Gordon chuckled from aside. Nonetheless, he moved towards the sound of Gabriel's voice, which was frantically calling for him. He called out in response, hoping he sounded less afraid than he really was, "Tían?"
Gabriel tackle-hugged Amelio. "Thank god you're safe," he said, "I was so worried!"
Collins almost fell under the attack, but smiled nonetheless, and held Sebastain tightly. "I'm fine," he murmured reassuringly, before hugging him tighter. "What about you? Jaide's army is all over the place, you.. you're okay?"
Gordon oh-so-discreetely stepped over to Jean, and murmured, "At least someone's happy."
"I'm fine," Gabriel said. "I... I just needed to check. But I suppose you still have a good amount of work to do today?"
In the background, Jean grinned at Gordon.
"Well.. Jaide's gone," Amelio answered, and his voice grew quieter. "I don't know what's next."
Gabriel smiled a bit. "Rebuilding this place, I guess. I'm proud of you though. For the work you did."
"..Thank you," Collins said quietly.
Gordon gestured to Jean to follow him as he approached the two, as well as the media cameras. Jean had been integral to their victory, he wanted her to play an equal part in the credit.
"Well," Gabriel said, looking more than a little embarrassed. "I guess I should leave you to your work. I-- I just wanted to make sure. Anyway, I have time to make dinner tonight, what would you like? We can celebrate your victory and, well, the fact that you're not dead."
"We could have that chicken pot pie you like," Amelio answered, giving a smile he hoped was reassuring. "You'll be careful getting home on your own?"
"'Course. You be careful too, Lio," Gabriel said. He gave Collins a quick hug and then fled the scene.
Amelio's wave goodbye became an awkward head scratch as he turned back to the other two officers.
