"And where was that?" Sam asked. "Do you know?"
"Right in the middle of it all, Sam. I've been kept captive in the police department, under custody of Scarlett Jaide." Drama followed Gordon's words. Yay.
"How do you know that she knew you were there?" Sam asked, unfazed by the drama.
Beautiful reporter. So good at job. Gordon sighed. "I'm afraid she was the one who first found me at the Joker's."
"Did she speak to you at all?" Sam asked.
"A few times," Gordon answered, and then managed to chuckle with very little humor. "If you've ever had the pleasure of meeting her, she's not the easiest person to have a conversation with."
"What did you talk about?" Sam asked.
"She would justify herself," Gordon answered, his face growing serious once again. "She would explain to me why she had the right to tell her force to shoot people who have been aquitted by law, and the good that she was doing."
"What else?" Sam asked, indicating that your next post should be longer.

Gordon rested his chin on his hands and frowned. "I guess you could say she kept me up to date. Told me who she was chasing, who had gotten away.. she berated me whenever she lost sight of Moss, Sheridan, and Crane, and she grew increasingly angry with the hacker that was warning innocent people of her raids. Her guards made it virtually impossible for me to escape, and if it weren't for a particularly outstanding officer, I would still be her prisoner."
A dark look crossed his expression, and he sat back in his seat once again. "I am well aware of the crimes Scarlett Jaide has committed against the good people of Gotham City. To make up for my ineptitude these past months, I promise to devote myself to protecting them. Jaide has been targeting civilians, and children none the less, and acting on her own version of absolute justice. There are no families that are safe from her." He looked at the camera for IMPACT. "It is time for her to step down."

Sam nodded slowly, their body tilted slightly towards the camera. "How do you think she will respond to this interview?"
"Gracefully, I'd hope," Gordon answered truthfully. "She was a good officer, and I would like fo her to not sully her name any further."
Sam nodded. "Anything else you'd like to say before we go?"
Gordon was silent for a moment, before murmmuring, "I would ask everyone to say indoors as much as they can until this is over."
"Thanks for being here," Sam said, reaching out to shake his hand.
"I'm glad I am," Gordon answered with a smile and a handshake.
Sam turned to the camera. "That's Jim Gordon, who was kidnapped by the Joker and then held in the police department by Commissioner Jaide. And now to the weather."
Gordon sighed in relief when the cameras were cut.

"Wow," Sam said, dropping the interviewer-persona and staring at him.

"What is it?" Gordon asked, rubbing his eyes behind his glasses, but managing a small smile.

"It's just... impressive, is all. We all thought you were dead, or you'd run off, but not this."
"I was banking on dead," Jean said, a flicker of emotion showing on her face.

Gordon chuckled with a glance at Jean. "Nice to know you didn't think I'd run away."

Jean grinned at him, then said, "And now we should get you somewhere safe, since we have no idea how Scarlett will react."

"I agree," Gordon said, standing. "I wouldn't want to endanger the rest of you any more. Thank you for your help." He held his hand out to Sam, Allison, Carson, and anyone else there in turn being all polite and stuff.

Everyone shook his six hands all at once. "Thank you," Allison said, "for helping fight Scarlett." She walked him and Jean to the door. "Have a nice day."

Sam knocked on Allison Moss’ door. Once it had felt strange to them, walking in and out of the lives of the rich and famous, but now they understood that the rich and famous were as much of a mess as everybody else. Considering what she’d been through with her daughters, Allison was actually doing pretty well. There were little things about her Sam appreciated. She was generous with her money (despite the fact that some of the decorations in her house were far too expensive to be of any use). She used the right pronouns for Sam. She admitted that she’d made some parenting mistakes with Aleenya in particular, but also didn’t take blame for Aleenya’s actions. Despite their age difference, Sam and Allison were turning out to be good friends. “Hey, Sam!” Allison said, opening the door. “Drive okay?” She small talked to the living room and brought Sam some coffee. Once they were both seated, Allison said, “I actually have a bit of a job for you, if you’re interested. I’m sure you’ve heard the rumors, but Carson and I are planning to make a movie about Aleenya-- she says she’s okay with it. It would be a feature film, not a documentary, but we want to get some sense of her perspective on her life, not make her into a villain.” Allison hesitated. “If you want to say no to this, I don’t ever have to mention it again. But I was wondering if you’d interview Aleenya.” “Yes!” Sam said, and then realized they probably sounded way too enthusiastic. “I… like interviewing people. It’s my favorite part of my job. Although isn’t that kind of illegal? Harboring a criminal, or something?” Allison smiled. “Oh, probably. I’m not harboring anyone, but you’d meet here.” Her smile darkened. “I think it would be completely safe. But… Aleenya can be unpredictable, at times, especially when talking about her past. So there is a risk…” “I want to do it,” Sam said firmly. “I’ve always been a bit fascinated with criminals. With the realness of the people who wear all these stupid masks-- Joker, Paroxysm, Poison Ivy, all of them. And I think this movie could have value that way-- presenting Aleenya as a real person, without saying that the things she did are okay.” “You could probably interview Paroxysm too, as part of it,” Allison said. “That might be helpful, if you were comfortable with it.” “I am,” Sam said. They figured out some logistics, and then the talk continued on to other things. When Sam walked out the door a few hours later, there was a bounce in their steps.
