Cate hesitated. "I guess it's possible," she said. "But I'm going to do my very very best to make sure she doesn't know it's you, because I really, REALLY don't want you to get hurt. I'm hoping she'll think Ash."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Within several minutes of probably not that awkward conversation in a car, Gordon and Jean were at the house. Also, I'm going to say that the only way to describe how Ash, Aleenya, and Crane are alive, and currently hiding (though Crane rather unwillingly) in a tree or something nearby is this:
(We have degraded to such a level that there are now memes within our posts.)
"This may well work," Jean said, "so long as Scarlett doesn't kill me first."
(good)
"With luck, she won't find any of us in time," Gordon murmured as they walked up to the door.
Jean knocked. After a few short moments, Allison answered.
"Allison Moss," she said, stepping forward to shake hands.
"Here, come in," Allison said. "I've called a reporter, a friend of mine, from Gotham News Network. They'll brain a crew to interview you. That sound okay?" She led them towards the living room.
"We'll have to make sure it can air before Scarlett gets to the crew," Gordon warned, looking around the house.
"We pulled some strings," Carson answered from the kitchen. "It'll be breaking news, so they are going to report it live."
Are the trio listening?? I don't even know.
"Good," Jean said shortly. She was about to say something else when her phone rang. Scarlett. She went back into the hallway and. "Hello, Jean Arlanda speaking."
"Jean," Scarlett's voice was tight. "Where are you?"
"The damn trail was a dead-end," Jean said tightly, feeling a tinge of guilt about lying to Scarlett. "I'm worried it was a distraction from something else."
Scarlett sounded particularly vicious as she growled, "Sheridan, Moss, and Crane."
"What now?" Jean asked, sounding almost weary. (That part wasn't fake.)
"They attacked the station," Scarlett answered, her teeth audibly barred. "I'm positive they were being guided. And /somehow/ they got away." Her voice grew cold as ice. "Be on your guard. If you see them, kill them, and anyone with them. No questions asked, got it Arlanda? I'm done playing with them, and their little friends."
"I don't believe in killing when it's not necessary, Scarlett," Jean said. "You know that."
"I'd say that the atrocities they have committed warrant reason," Scarlett retorted. "If there's anyone in this city to kill on sight it's them, Arlanda."
Where everybody was probably having a lovely time chatting and stuff. Maybe the news crew is showing up? Maybe they all just have delicious coffee? Who knows.
