Jean ignored the prosy question marks from the last post and saw that the kitchen was empty. Carson, Allison, and Gordon were in the living room drinking coffee. As she sat down on the couch next to Gordon Allison said, "They'll be here soon."

"Important call?" Gordon asked Jean, while at the same time Carson offered her a mug of coffee.

Jean thanked Carson for the coffee and then asked, "How long exactly, do you think, Allison?" instead of answering Gordon.
"Within twenty minutes, by now," Allison said.

"I imagine Scarlett hasn't been making life easy for the two of you," Gordon commented by way of question.

"No," Allison said dryly, "no, she's not. But I'd say we're lucky in our dealings with her, compared to some people."

"Allison's interviews have made it easier for us," Carson commented. "Though we haven't exactly been able to just wait it out, either."
Gordon seemed to sigh. "You've had it hard enough without all of this," he mumbled. "As a parent, I can't imagine how difficult it is."

Allison glanced at her husband, but couldn't quite think of anything to say in response to the 'parent' part.

Carson's voice was low, and he refused to look at anyone. "..It's not what we were hoping for."

"I wouldn't imagine, no," Jean said, her voice much gentler than it had been before.
Allison frowned, staring off into the distance. She couldn't help imagining Allie. Now that Aleenya was doing better-- was able to talk to her family without anger-- would she be able to forgive Allie? Would the Aleenya of right now be capable of killing her sister?

"What are you going to say?" Carson asked the two, effectively changing the subject.

Allison glanced gratefully at her husband.
Jean looked at Gordon. "Well, that you're back, for one. It would be good if you could talk through your memories of where you were, and how you were treated."

"I sure hope they have a few questions for me," Gordon commented, sounding slightly amused. "Otherwise it may not be too interesting."

"I would hope they do," Allison said dryly.

"It is their job," Carson said, agreeing with his wife.

Allison started talking about her reporter friend, how they had met when Sam interviewed Allison for a movie that didn't end up doing as well as expected. Partway through the interview, they got sidetracked by talking about the superhero films Ratman. They'd gone to a café later that day and been friends ever since.
After a while, they heard the sounds of a few carvans outside.
